According to the latest report, Lava brand has announced its mobile smart phones to launch in India. It has declared about an event to be held on the 7th of January to showcase its “game-changing moment in the smart phone industry.” This is an indirect hint at the comeback of the brand to the mainstream mobile phone market days after its rival Micromax returned to the market with the launch of IN sub-brand. The reemergence of Lava Mobiles and Micromax comes against the backdrop of anti-China sentiment that followed the border disputes between India and China. The president of the Lava company and business head Mr. Sunil Raina made the announcement for the launch event scheduled for next month. He even said that smartphone engineering never evolved as much as it has this year.

He elaborates,

“I invite you to witness something that has never happened in the smartphone industry before.

Never before has smartphone engineering been so evolved and dynamic, thanks to our talented engineers. Tune in to the live webcast of history in the making. I promise what follows will make you feel proudly Indian,” Expectedly, Lava Mobiles will launch new smartphones next month as the company hopes to fight off Chinese onslaught in the market, according to the Indiatoday report.

The Lava firm has already revealed that the handset’s price in India has been priced at Rs. 6,888 for its single 2GB + 32GB storage variant. The phone is already listed on the official website. The phone, aimed specifically at women, can be purchased in Rose Pink color. Alongside Lava BeU, that the brand had recently launched, the firm is planning to launch four new smartphones and a smart fitness band on 7 January, the firm said. In addition, Lava also said that the new smartphones will be priced between Rs.5,000 and Rs.15,000 and will be available through both online and offline channels. The Lava Be U smartphone in India has been available for Rs 6,888. It is available to purchase now from leading sellers, which is why it is unlikely to be at the centre of the next month’s announcement.  This device in India features a 6.08-inch HD+ display with 2.5D curved glass along with a u-shaped notch cutout for the 8MP selfie camera up front and a setup of 13MP and 2MP dual cameras on the back. The phone has a plastic build that measures 9.82 millimetres in thickness and weighs 175.8 grams.

According to Counterpoint Research, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and Realme are among the top five smartphone companies in India.

The fifth spot is secured by South Korea’s Samsung. Although both Lava Mobiles and Micromax have been doing their business since Chinese smartphone companies hurt their smartphone business, they have mostly been low-profile. Both Micromax and Lava Mobiles have been selling feature phones and low-cost smartphones in the market while their mainstream smartphone business went kaput. It was only after the government announced the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme that homegrown brands made some noise after a long silence.

It is powered by the Unisoc octa-core processor with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage and runs on Android 10 Go Edition out-of-the-box. The Lava BeU has a dual-camera setup on the back that consists of a primary 13MP camera with an f/1.85 aperture along with a 2MP secondary camera and LED flash. The phone supports dual SIM and is powered by the 4,060mAh battery that the company claims can provide a talk time of about 16 hours. The BeU is priced at Rs 6,888 for the sole model and will also be available in offline stores soon.
